Tomorrow

I use this word alot. Tomorrow I will work out, tomorrow I will get organized, tomorrow I will catch up on work, tomorrow I will fold those clothes, tomorrow I will start that book, tomorrow I will call that friend back, tomorrow I will edit my kids’ pictures….OK, you get the idea!  I have a bad habit of committing something to tomorrow, yet not following through, so tomorrow becomes….tomorrow. Anyone else know what I’m talking about?  I realize this is not the time for a new years resolution and this is not what this is.  This is just getting to a point where you’re just pissed off about failing at something bc you never REALLY committed to it in the first place.  My husband and I recently had a ‘come to Jesus meeting’…and if you’re from the south…you know what that is. lol  I’m not from the south, but I love that expression and use it every time I can.;) We got to a point in our lives where it was time to ask  some hard questions and figure out what we want for our lives, our family, our careers, and most importantly….what we want to see God do in our lives. We knew we had to begin with asking HIM for help in all of these areas of our lives.

I want to share this journey on my blog for several reasons. I want to be as transparent as I can to any readers as I think it’s time that you know the girl behind the camera. Not just what she looks like, that she has 2 girls, that she can play a mean game of peekaboo, etc. But I want to have the freedom to share my heart, my struggles, my small victories, my passions… And in turn, maybe someone can relate to what I’m going through. Maybe I can stay accountable this way, and in turn keep someone else accountable. Just a few topics already jumping around in my brain are: certain methods we’re trying in our ‘get out of debt’ plan, fun deals, getting organized, relationships, recipes, getting healthy, decorating, and even what God is doing in and around my family!  I’m hoping that you will also feel free to comment and share anything from tips, questions, and anything that may be on your heart!

And just to start things off for today….we (my husband and I) have had many heart to hearts lately. Gosh…the last month has been hard and great at the same time. I could probably fill up a whole journal if I were to write all my thoughts on the last month, but I will do my best to mention what I feel mention-worthy.  I think we both came to a point a while back where we sat back and said: ‘What are we doing?’  What the heck are we doing???  We have been living on the surface for way too long. We have been OK with ‘getting by’ for too long (in so many aspects of our lives…spiritual, relational, financial, etc).  We’re watching our debt rise, while we the quality of our lives does not improve b/c everything is so busy. We fly through the weeks like we’re in some kind of race. We’re not being effective!! There are so many things I would change about myself right now, and wish it were as easy as a snap of a finger. HOwever, I know it’s going to take alot of work on my part. Alot of sacrifice and alot of motivation. I want to start being more intentional about everything I do….from kissing my children to reaching out to a complete stranger. Oh! My brain is in overload right now. I dont consider myself a good writer AT ALL! I like to write how I would talk in a conversation, so I’m probably all over the place. Bear with me.

Well…..a while back (well, 2009 to be exact) I saw this title on the magazine stands!

So yes, of course I picked it up. This was what I needed to get my home organized. Why of course. I just picked it up from underneath my nightstand, so that tells you how much it helped me. Large tasks (such as organizing your home) are so overwhelming to me! Running a business out of my home and 2 kids, things start to pile up and you wonder how in the world did you accumulate so much stuff! Having a yard sale was a good start, but I still find myself overwhelmed on where to start. So, I call up a good friend  (love ya Heather) who LOVES organizing and is actually good at it.  We went to Garden Ridge and got some great organizational stuff for great prices!!! We went over every room in my home where there was a need, and every need was met with a solution. I will have to photograph some of those projects when i’m done and show you.  And no, it wasnt rocket science, but my brain doesnt function that way…But it also doesnt function in clutter and disarray.  So, I knew I had to get out of my ‘I’m stuck, I dont know what to do/where to start’ mentality and have someone help me and keep me accountable. Cant wait to have a super duper organized home!!!:)

What are some of your organizing secrets? What has been most helpful to you? Would LOVE to hear from you. I’m always learning from others and LOVE that!

Thanks for hearing me out! Will check back in next Wednesday!:)

Love this Becky! One little organizing trick (I think I learned from Real Simple) is to use a shoe organizer (the kind with clear pockets) over the inside of closet doors to organize small things. I have one in Mason’s closet for medicine, extra pacifiers, hairbrush, etc. One in the bathroom for hair products, razors, etc. And if I had a pantry I would love to do one there as well as just a general closet to serve as an organized “junk drawer”. Its really nice to be able to see and grab things so easily and helps reclaim drawer or shelf space in the closets.

Thanks girls! Heather K…thanks for the tip. That’s a great idea. I’ve seen that for use in a pantry, but never wouldve thought to use it for a child’s closet or general closet as an organized ‘junk drawer’. That’s great! Could definitely clear out some drawer space. thanks! :)
